24 November, LONDON
iHUMAN, an urgent new feature documentary from visionary Norwegian filmmaker Tonje Hessen Schei (DRONE, 2014) will be released by Cosmic Cat in the UK on 10 December, International Human Rights Day.
An explosive real-life political thriller, iHUMAN gives deep access to the booming Artificial Intelligence (AI) industry. It illuminates how the most powerful and far-reaching technology of our time is changing our lives, our society and our future.
iHUMAN asks us all: in an AI age, what does it mean to be human?
COVID-19 has proven how fast and far-reaching digital technology and automated machines are being developed and deployed. Everyone is asking what kind of post-COVID world we want to build. In this context, Hessen Schei’s illuminating and informative new film is more urgent than ever.
From information control to deepfakes, iHUMAN gives unprecedented access to the experts on the frontlines of this technology, and unique insight into the minds that are leading the revolution.
AI can make our lives easier, but at what cost?
Film director Tonje Hessen Schei says:
“We need to prepare for a new societal age. The global expansion in use and power of AI is putting our humanity on the line. The big question at stake is not what we can do with this technology but what we should do.”
Co-Producer and Impact Producer, Danielle Turkov Wilson, Think-Film Impact Production says:
“The line between human and machine is dissolving before we’ve even drawn it. AI can be humanity’s greatest asset but we urgently need to know what it is and how it affects us as citizens.”
Ged Fitzsimmons, Cosmic Cat says:
“We are delighted to bring this world class documentary to the UK. As part of our commitment to support UK cinemas, many of whom are limited by current Covid restrictions, the film will be made available virtually through cinema websites as well as physically. In addition to this, all versions of the film will come complete with exclusive director Q&A for this limited release.”
Featuring exclusive interviews with the world’s top AI experts including Elon Musk’s OpenAI and with VFX by award-winning Theodor Groeneboom (Gravity, Guardians of the Galaxy, Star Wars), iHuman is an essential insight into our present and very near future.
